Types of UPS:
There are mainly three types of UPSs –
1.Standby UPS
This is the most inexpensive version of the UPS. The standby UPS works by tracking the main supply voltage along with frequency variations. In case of excessive power supply, the load is transferred to the inverter within a few milliseconds.
2.Online UPS
This is the most common type of UPS system compromising of rectifier, inverter, and batteries. As the term suggests, the appliance runs on the power of the UPS battery directly instead of the main power supply. In the whole process, the power is converted to DC and then AC. The online UPS has an up hand over the other three UPS system as it protects from nine power quality problems with zero transfer time.
3.Line Interactive UPS
The line-interactive UPS system works by splitting the power supply into AC and DC. The DC is used to charge the UPS battery. Meanwhile, the AC is feed to the electronic power supply. In case of any power fluctuations, it smoothes out the spikes and noise with a transfer time of around 3-4 minutes.

Other Features
The other noteworthy features of Emerson UPS includes the following:

Transfer Time to Battery

The transfer time to the battery by Vertiv is almost low depending upon the type of UPS chosen – compared to other UPS. It indicates the time taken to transfer from utility to the battery supply in case of a power cut. The offline systems typically require around 6 to 8 milliseconds of transfer time. Whereas for the line-interactive UPS system, the time of 2 to 4 milliseconds is required to switch from power to battery. Thirdly, the On-Line UPS requires zero time as it continues to supply power to the load connected.

Battery Runtime

The battery runtime defines the amount of time the UPS will supply power to the connected equipment. It offers a runtime of around 30 minutes which is sufficient for the equipment to shut down properly. The load shedding feature optimizes the battery runtime by turning off the not-so-necessary pieces of equipment for a long duration.

Battery Maintenance

Support and Warranty
The Vertiv UPS system is available in tower and rack style. The rack-mount models are used progressively in network applications. Whereas the rack-styled UPS are typically used in desktop computer applications. In event of any problem, Vertiv provides a two-year warranty along with the optional one and three years of extended warranty for certain models. It also includes onsite service, regular maintenance, etc.
